New Student Outreach/Welcome Week Tips?

Matt Stauffer

It’s the busiest week of the year for most of you, as your colleges come back to life with the return of students to campus.

Even though I’m not on campus anymore, it’s a pretty busy for me too, as I work on a new project I hope to announce more details about in the next few months.

If any of you are free enough to even check your blog subscriptions this week, do you have any tips or tricks that have made your welcome week especially successful this year?

I’ll start. Using Google Docs Spreadsheets to track our new students revolutionized the way we could communally address these new contacts instead of limiting followup to specific people in specific locations.

We don’t have one set up but I could sure utilize a group-text service if there was a good one. To be able to text everyone with a last-minute location change or a rain update.

I’ll second Google Docs. Follow up has been so much more accessible and efficient because of it.

Typically, we’ve just tabled at the beginning of the year. This year, we had a student design some professional looking flyers and had them printed and cut professionally. This has made our flyers a hot commodity on a campus that doesn’t desire to have Christian flyers anywhere near them.
