DJ Your Conference or Large Group With Grooveshark

Matt Stauffer

If you’ve ever been responsible for providing the music at a large group event or a conference, you’ll know it’s never just as easy as hitting “play” on your personal iTunes. Especially if you’re working with a diverse group of students, it can be very difficult to collect a personal archive of music that’s appropriate and diverse, and even harder for that collection to be available to your entire team.

Enter music streaming services, and specifically, our favorite, Grooveshark. Grooveshark allows you to stream any music in their catalog for free from their web site, and you can create user accounts and playlists that can be used by anyone in your organization.

For example, we created an account for our Chapter Camp, and we have playlists for all of our significant music times–Hype opening music, quiet prayer music, etc. Since I created the playlists in Grooveshark instead of on my personal computer, the folks at camp week 2 this week are using the same playlists I created last week. For free.

Do you have any favorite artists, songs, albums, or playlists you use for your ministry? Feel free to share them in the comments!
